If you were looking for a high school workbook series in the past that is complete and builds up through the grade-levels as a full series at a realistic price, you might have been disappointed. I know I was!
That is exactly why high school workbooks were first on my list to complete. I was recently asked why I started backwards from grade 12 (technically the 11-12 is workbook is combined) in my all-subjects learning workbooks. The answer for me was simple: there was a huge need in this area! If you are new here read about Beyond Books Learning Resources here!
What was the problem wit the old workbooks?
The high school workbooks available were either cheap and lacking or too expensive for the average family to invest in. Parents seek workbooks as supplementary materials. They need them for extra practice, to keep children on-track, or to help their children catch up to their peers because they are struggling. It is a risky game for parents who want to improve or supplement their children’s educations when many systems are high-cost, and they don’t know if they are going to work! The guilt sets in when you realize you can’t afford to keep trying new products that don’t work!
I know first-hand! That’s why I created books I would use for my own children! I created exactly what I wanted for them! I wanted them to learn the SKILLS they need to master so they could learn anything new that would came their way – not just algebra and Earth science (though those were added bonuses!).
What makes these books different?
Each of these all-subject workbooks from 9th-12th grade focuses on the vital skills young adults need to navigate the world. They need to know how to think logically and critically. This stems from making connections between what they’ve learned and how to apply it. They also need to learn how to be a creative problem solver! All the most successful people have this skill in common – they can adapt and come up with solutions outside of the normal spectrum of thinking.
Finally, these books teach the skills needed to become an independent learner. This is a vital skill for us all. We should all be learning new skills throughout our entire lives! Our children should be able to learn the skills needed to solve the problems. We should be raising kids that do not rely on others to solve problems within their grasp.
You might think this type of system would cost a lot of money, but the truth is each book is a lower price point than most of the competitor workbooks in the same grade levels. Why? Part of the mission of Beyond Books Learning Resources is to reach all kids – no matter the income level or grade point average. Every kid deserves to learn skills that will help them flourish!
Where can you find these workbooks?
Currently, these books are exclusive to Amazon. You can find the complete high school workbook series here.
These workbooks are not like others. They focus on teaching children how to research and which sources are credible, how to identify and write persuasive works, how to make real-world connections to what they’ve learned, and exercises their critical and creative thinking skills. Because of the inherent differences of these workbooks to the traditional type, they take longer to complete and look much different. Your student will be doing a lot of the footwork and thinking.
Check them out for yourself and see the difference! If it is skills you re looking to instill and teach, they might be for you!
